About Wakehound
Wakehound is a driver-safety app that uses your phone's front camera to watch for signs of drowsiness in real time, eye closure, head nods, and gives you a 0–100 alertness score with graded warnings. A gentle chime warns you first; if you don't respond, a loud alarm and vibration jolt you awake.
Everything runs entirely on your device. No account, no internet needed, and camera frames are never uploaded. You can add an emergency contact, set up personal calibration, and review a log of every trip, all stored privately on your phone.
What you can do
Real-Time Drowsiness Detection

Escalating Alerts

Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 9, 2026
Wakehound ("the App", "we", "us") is a drowsy-driving detection app for Android. This policy explains what the App does and does not do with your information. Our approach is simple: Wakehound runs entirely on your device. We do not operate servers, we do not have user accounts, and we do not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal data.
The short version
- The App works fully offline. It does not require an account or a login.
- The front camera is used only to detect signs of drowsiness in real time. Camera images are processed on your device, in memory, and are never recorded, saved, or uploaded.
- All settings, calibration data, emergency contacts, medical notes, profile details, and trip history are stored only on your device.
- We do not run analytics, advertising, or tracking of any kind.
- No data ever leaves your phone through the App.
Information the App handles (all on-device)
Camera (front-facing). The camera feed is analysed on-device to estimate eye closure, blink behaviour, and head position. Only a small numeric drowsiness score and alert state are used by the App. Camera frames are never stored and never transmitted.
Emergency contacts. If you choose to add an emergency contact, the App reads your device contacts so you can pick one. The contact you select is stored locally on your device only. The App never uploads your contacts. When you tap "Call", the App simply opens your phone's dialer with that number.
Photos / media. If you set a profile picture, the App uses your device's image picker to let you choose an image. The selected image is stored locally on your device only.
Medical notes and profile details. Any notes or profile information you enter are stored locally on your device only. They are never uploaded.
Trip history and settings. Drowsiness scores, trip logs, calibration, and app settings are saved locally on your device so the App can show your history and remember your preferences.
Notifications and foreground service. The App uses notifications and an Android foreground service so monitoring and alerts keep working while you drive. This does not involve collecting or sending any data.
Permissions and why they are used
- Camera — to detect drowsiness in real time, on-device only.
- Contacts — so you can choose an emergency contact from your phone book.
- Photos / media images — so you can set a profile picture.
- Notifications — to show alerts and the monitoring status.
- Foreground service / camera foreground service — to keep detection running during a trip.
- Vibrate — to physically alert you when drowsiness is detected.
- Internet — the App does not send your personal data over the internet. This permission may be present due to standard Android libraries, but the App does not use it to collect or transmit your information.
You can grant or revoke any permission at any time in your device's system settings. Some features (for example, drowsiness detection) will not work without the camera permission.
Data sharing
We do not share your data with anyone, because the App does not collect it in the first place. There are no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services in the App.
Data retention and deletion
Because all data is stored only on your device, you are in full control. You can delete your emergency contact, profile picture, medical notes, and trip history from within the App, or remove everything by clearing the App's data or uninstalling it. Uninstalling the App permanently removes all data it stored on your device.
Children
Wakehound is intended for licensed drivers and is not directed at children.
Safety disclaimer
Wakehound is an assistive aid only and is not a substitute for safe, attentive driving. It may not detect all signs of drowsiness. You remain fully responsible for operating your vehicle safely. Always drive only when well-rested and pull over immediately if you feel tired.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we will change the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be reflected in the App or on our website.

Terms & Conditions
Last updated: July 9, 2026
Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using Wakehound ("the App"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
What Wakehound is
Wakehound is an Android application that uses your device's front camera to detect signs of driver drowsiness in real time and to alert you with sound, speech, and vibration. All processing happens on your device.
Safety disclaimer — please read
Wakehound is an assistive aid only. It is not a substitute for safe, attentive, and responsible driving, and it is not a medical device.
- The App may not detect all signs of drowsiness, fatigue, or impairment, and it may produce missed alerts or false alerts.
- Detection can be affected by lighting, camera position, glasses, face coverings, phone placement, and many other factors.
- The App does not diagnose, treat, or monitor any medical condition.
- You must never rely on the App to keep you awake or to make it safe to drive while tired.
You, the driver, remain fully and solely responsible for the safe operation of your vehicle at all times, and for complying with all traffic and safety laws. Always drive only when well-rested, and pull over immediately if you feel tired.
Eligibility and proper use
You must be a licensed driver and legally permitted to drive to use the App while driving. You agree to:
- Set up and position the App before driving, never while the vehicle is moving.
- Not let the App distract you from the road.
- Use the App only in a manner that is legal where you drive. Some jurisdictions restrict mounting or using a phone in a vehicle; it is your responsibility to comply.
Emergency contact and calling feature
The App lets you save an emergency contact and open your phone's dialer to call that number. The App does not place calls or send messages on your behalf, and it is not an emergency response service. In a real emergency, use your local emergency number and services.
Privacy
Wakehound processes camera data on-device only and does not collect, transmit, or share your personal data. Your settings, contacts, notes, and trip history are stored only on your device. See the Privacy Policy for details.
License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for your own personal, non-commercial purposes, subject to these Terms. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, resell, or redistribute the App except as permitted by law.
No warranty
The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, reliability, or that the App will detect drowsiness or prevent any accident. You use the App at your own risk.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss, injury, or damage arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the App — including any accident, injury, or loss connected with driving. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
Changes to the App and Terms
We may update, change, or discontinue the App or these Terms at any time. If we change these Terms, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in your place of residence, to the extent permitted, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
